al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 5578

✧ Sahl b. Hunayf b. Wahib b. Hakim, also known as Uqaym b. Tha'laba b. Majda'a b. Al Harith b. 'Amr, known as Abu Thabit "Badr'i", died in Kufa, and Ali b. Abi Talib prayed upon him.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا ثنا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يَغْتَسِلُ فَقَالَ

مَا رَأَيْتُ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَلُبِطَ بِهِ حَتَّى مَا يُصَلِّي مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْوَجَعِ فَأُخْبِرَ بِذَلِكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَدَعَاهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ «قَتَلْتَهُ عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ؟ أَلَا بَرَّكْتَ» فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِذَنُوبٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَقَالَ «اغْسِلُوهُ» فَاغْتَسَلَ فَخَرَجَ مَعَ الرَّكْبِ

✧ Never have I seen, nor the skin of a secluded maiden. So he was struck down until he could not pray from the severity of the pain. The Prophet ﷺ was informed of that, so the Prophet ﷺ summoned him, became angry with him, and said, "You have killed him. For what reason does one of you kill his brother? Why did you not invoke blessing?" The Prophet ﷺ ordered a bucket of water and said, "Wash him with it." So he washed, and he went out with the riding party.
