حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ كَانَ لَنَا غُلَامٌ

يُقَالُ لَهُ ذَكْوَانُ أَوْ طَهْمَانُ وَكَانَ لَهُ عَبْدٌ فَأَعْتَقَ نِصْفَهُ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «يُعْتَقُ فِي عِتْقِكَ وَيُرَقُّ فِي رِقِّكَ»

Translation

  4. Ismāʿīl b. Umayyah from his father from his grandfather

✧ He was called Dhakwan or Tahman. He had a slave, and he set half of him free. He mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'He becomes free in the portion you freed, and enslaved in the portion you kept.'
