✧ Saad b. Ubadah al-Ansari, then al-Khazraji, a follower from Badr and Uhud, a captain, known as Abu Thabit, he stayed in Sham and passed away there.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ اسْتَفْتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا نَذْرٌ وَلَمْ تَقْضِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اقْضِهِ عَنْهَا»

✧ Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdullah, from Ibn 'Abbas, that Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah asked the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, my mother has passed away and she had made a vow but did not fulfill it." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said, "Fulfill it on her behalf."
