حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا لَيْثُ بْنُ هَارُونَ الْعُكْلِيُّ ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ قَالَ
ثَلَاثُ خِصَالٍ فِيَّ مَا حَدَّثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِحَدِيثٍ إِلَّا صَدَّقْتُهُ وَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ حَقٌّ وَمَا حَضَرْتُ مَيِّتًا إِلَّا حَضَّرْتُ نَفْسِي بِمَا يَقُولُ وَمَا يُقَالُ لَهُ وَلَا صَلَّيْتُ صَلَاةً فَحَدَّثْتُ نَفْسِي بِغَيْرِهَا حَتَّى أَقْضِيَ صَلَاتِي

✧ Three qualities are in me: I never heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ relate a hadith except that I believed him and knew it was true; I never attended a dying person except that I made myself attentive to what he was saying and what was being said to him; and I never performed a prayer without talking to myself about other things until I completed my prayer.
