حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنْ أَشْجَعَ تُوُفِّيَ وَأَنَّهُمْ ذَكَرُوهُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ» فَتَغَيَّرَتْ وُجُوهُ الْقَوْمِ لِذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا رَأَى الَّذِي بِهِمْ قَالَ «إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ غَلَّ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ» فَفَتَّشْنَا مَتَاعَهُ فَوَجَدْنَا خَرَزًا مِنْ خَرَزِ الْيَهُودٍ مَا يُسَاوِي دِرْهَمَيْنِ

✧ A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ from Ashjaʿ died, and they mentioned him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: "Pray over your companion." The faces of the people changed because of that. When he saw what had befallen them, he said: "Your companion has stolen from the spoils in the cause of Allah." We searched his belongings and found beads from the beads of the Jews worth two dirhams.
