حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَفَّانُ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ وَزَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ

عَنِ الصَّرْفِ فَهَذَا يَقُولُ سَلْ هَذَا وَهَذَا يَقُولُ سَلْ هَذَا فَإِنَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَأَعْلَمُ كِلَاهُمَا يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ فَسَأَلْتُهُمَا فَقَالَا «نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْوَرِقِ بِالذَّهَبِ دَيْنًا»

✧ About exchanging (money). One would say, “Ask this one,” and the other would say, “Ask that one, for he is better than me and more knowledgeable.” Both of them said that. So I asked them both, and they said: “The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade selling silver for gold on credit.”
