حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الْأَجْلَحِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنِ الْأَجْلَحِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ مُعَاذِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا خَالِدٌ عَنِ الْأَجْلَحِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا جُبَارَةُ بْنُ الْمُغَلِّسِ قَالَا ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ عَنِ الْأَجْلَحِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنِ الْأَجْلَحِ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْخَلِيلِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ

بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلِيًّا إِلَى الْيَمَنِ فَأُتِيَ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ نَفَرٍ وَقَعُوا عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ فِي طُهْرٍ وَاحِدٍ فَجَاءَتْ بِوَلَدٍ فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ لِوَاحِدٍ وَاحِدٍ أَتَرْضَى أَنْ يَكُونَ الْوَلَدُ لِهَذَا؟ أَنْتُمُ شُرَكَاءُ مُتَشَاكِسُونَ فَأَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَجَعَلَ الْوَلَدَ لِلَّذِي أَصَابَتْهُ الْقُرْعَةُ وَجَعَلَ عَلَيْهِ ثُلُثَيِ الدِّيَةِ لِلْآخَرَيْنِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَضَحِكَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ أَضْرَاسُهُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Ali to Yemen. He was brought a case of three men who had had intercourse with a woman during a single purity period, and she gave birth to a child. He kept saying to each one: 'Would you accept that the child be for this one? You are obstinate partners.' So he drew lots among them and made the child belong to the one whom the lot struck, and he imposed on him two-thirds of the blood money for the other two. That reached the Prophet ﷺ, and he laughed until his molars appeared.
