✧ The Prophet ﷺ stopped at al-Juhfa, then turned to the people, praised and extolled Allah, and said: "I find that no prophet lives beyond half the age of the one before him, and I am about to be summoned and will answer. So what will you say?" They said: "You have counseled well." He said: "Do you not testify that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, and that Paradise is true, and the Fire is true, and that resurrection after death is true?" They said: "We testify." He said, raising his hands and placing them on his chest: "And I testify with you." Then he said: "Do you not hear?" They said: "Yes." He said: "I will go ahead of you to the Pond, and you will come to me at the Pond. Its width is as far as the distance between San'a' and Busra; in it are goblets of silver numbering the stars. So watch how you succeed me in the two weighty things!" A caller asked: "What are the two weighty things, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The Book of Allah, one end in the hand of Allah, Mighty and Exalted, and one end in your hands, so hold fast to it and you will not go astray; and the other is my offspring. The Subtle, the Aware has informed me that they will never separate until they come to me at the Pond. I asked that for them from my Lord. So do not precede them or you will perish, and do not fall short of them or you will perish, and do not teach them, for they are more knowledgeable than you." Then he took 'Ali ؓ by the hand and said: "He whose affairs I have more right to than his own self, 'Ali is his guardian. O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him."
