حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَزَّازُ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي صَفْوَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عِبَادٍ قَالَ
رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِسُوقِ ذِي الْمَجَازِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُهَاجِرَ وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَيَقُولُ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أنْ تَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» وَخَلْفَهُ رَجُلٌ يَقُولُ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ هَذَا يَأْمُرُكُمْ أنْ تَتْرُكُوا دَيْنَ آبَائِكُمْ قُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا عَمُّهُ أَبُو لَهَبٍ
Translation

✧ I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the market of Dhu al-Majaz before he emigrated, going around among the people saying, “O people, Allah commands you to worship Him and not associate anything with Him.” Behind him was a man saying, “O people, this one commands you to abandon the religion of your forefathers.” I said, “Who is this?” They said, “His uncle Abu Lahab.”
