حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ أَنْبَأَ خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عِبَادٍ الدِّيلِيِّ قَالَ
«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِذِي الْمَجَازِ وَهُوَ يَتْبَعُ النَّاسَ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى اللهِ فِي مَنَازِلِهِمْ» وَوَرَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ أَحْوَلُ يَقُولُ لَا يَفْتِنُكُمْ هَذَا عَنْ دَيْنِ آبَائِكُمْ فَقُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ فَقَالُوا عَمُّهُ أَبُو لَهَبٍ

✧ “I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Dhu al-Majaz following the people, calling them to Allah in their encampments.” Behind him was a cross-eyed man saying, “Do not let this one tempt you away from the religion of your forefathers.” I said, “Who is this?” They said, “His uncle Abu Lahab.”
