حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَ قَالَ

أَبُو سَعِيدٍ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ تُبْ إِلَى اللهِ ﷻ فَقَالَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الذَّهَبِ بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ بِالْفِضَّةِ» وَقَالَ «إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمُ الرِّبَا؟» قُلْتُ لِعَطِيَّةَ مَا الرِّبَا؟ قَالَ «الزِّيَادَةُ وَالْفَضْلُ بَيْنَهُمَا»

✧ Abu Sa'id said to Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah have mercy on him: "Repent to Allah, Mighty and Majestic." He said: "I seek forgiveness from Allah and I turn to Him in repentance." He said: "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade gold for gold and silver for silver, and said: 'Indeed I fear for you riba?'" I said to 'Atiyyah: "What is riba?" He said: "Increase and surplus between them."
