✧ I used to serve the Messenger of God ﷺ during my day. When night came, I would retire to the Messenger of God's ﷺ door and spend the night there. I would keep hearing him say: "Glory be to God, glory be to my Lord," until I would grow weary or sleep would overcome me and I would fall asleep. One day he said: "O Rabi'ah, ask me and I will give you." I said: Let me think, so I considered and remembered that this world is transient and fleeting. I said: O Messenger of God, I ask you to supplicate God to keep me away from the Fire and admit me to Paradise. The Messenger of God ﷺ was silent, then said: "Who commanded you this?" I said: No one commanded me, but I knew that this world is fleeting and transient, and you have the standing with God that you have, so I wanted you to supplicate God. He said: "I shall do it, so help me against your own self by abundant prostration."
