✧ While the Messenger of God ﷺ was sitting, he looked around and saw a man. The man faced the qiblah and prayed two rak'ahs. Hajjaj said in his narration: I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when a man came and entered the mosque. When he finished his prayer, he came and greeted the Messenger of God ﷺ and the people. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: "And upon you. Go back and pray, for you have not prayed." He said: So he went back and prayed, and he began to observe his prayer, not knowing what fault there was in it. When he finished his prayer, he came and greeted the Messenger of God ﷺ and the people. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Go back and pray, for you have not prayed." He said: And he mentioned either two or three times. The man said: "I do not know what you have found faulty in me." He said: The Prophet ﷺ said: "The prayer of any of you is not complete until he performs ablution thoroughly as God commanded him: he washes his face and his hands to the elbows, wipes his head and his feet to the ankles. Then he magnifies God, praises Him, and recites from the Qur'an what God has permitted and made easy for him. Then he magnifies God and bows, placing his palms on his knees until his joints are at ease and relaxed. Then he says, 'God hears the one who praises Him,' and stands upright until every bone takes its proper place and his back is straight. Then he magnifies God and prostrates, enabling his forehead—Hammam said: and perhaps he said: enabling his face—to the ground until his joints are at ease and relaxed. Then he magnifies God and raises his head, sitting upright on his sitting place and straightening his back." He described the prayer like this until he finished, then said: "The prayer of any of you is not complete until he does that." The wording is from the narration of Hajjaj.
