حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنِي حَنْظَلَةُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَانَا أَنْ نُكْرِيَ أَرْضَنَا» وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ذَهَبٌ وَلَا فِضَّةٌ وَكُنَّا نُكْرِي أَرْضَنَا عَلَى الرُّبُعِ وَاللَّامَعْلُومَةِ فَرُبَّمَا هَلَكَ ذَا وَسَلِمَ ذَا

✧ "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from leasing our land." At that time there was no gold or silver, and we used to lease our land for a quarter and the unknown amount, and sometimes this would perish while that would be safe.
