حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْعَلَاءِ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ وَاصِلِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي سَوْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ

خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «حَبَّذَا الْمُتَخَلِّلُونَ» قَالُوا وَمَا الْمُتَخَلِّلُونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ الْمُتَخَلِّلُونَ بِالْوُضُوءِ وَالْمُتَخَلِّلُونَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ أَمَّا تَخْلِيلُ الْوُضُوءِ فَالْمَضْمَضَةُ وَالِاسْتِنْشَاقُ وَبَيْنَ الْأَصَابِعِ وَأَمَّا تَخْلِيلُ الطَّعَامِ فَمِنَ الطَّعَامِ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أَشَدَّ عَلَى الْمَلَكَيْنِ مِنْ أَنْ يَرَيَا بَيْنَ أَسْنَانِ صَاحِبِهِمَا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us and said: “How excellent are those who use the toothpick!” They said: “And what are those who use the toothpick, O Messenger of God?” He said: “Those who use the toothpick for ablution and those who use it for food. As for the toothpick of ablution, it is rinsing the mouth, sniffing water, and between the fingers. And as for the toothpick of food, it is after food. For nothing is harder on the two angels than to see something between the teeth of their companion while he stands praying.”
