حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ مُعْتَبٍ الضَّبِّيِّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ سَهْمِ بْنِ مِنْجَابٍ عَنْ قَزَعَةَ عَنِ الْقَرْثَعِ الضَّبِّيِّ

عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ فِي الْأَرْبَعِ الَّتِي قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةُ الَّتِي أَدَمْتَ حِينَ تَزُولُ الشَّمْسُ؟ قَالَ «يَا أَبَا أَيُّوبَ إِنَّ أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ تُفْتَحُ عِنْدَ زَوَالِ الشَّمْسِ فَلَا تَرْتَجُّ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاوَاتِ حَتَّى يُصَلَّى الظُّهْرُ» قَالَ يَقْرَأُ فِيهِنَّ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قَالَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُنَّ بِسَلَامٍ؟ قَالَ «لَا»

✧ From Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī regarding the four [rakʿahs] before Ẓuhr: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, what is this prayer that you keep performing when the sun declines?” He said: “O Abū Ayyūb, the gates of heaven are opened at the sun’s decline, and the gates of the heavens do not close until Ẓuhr is prayed.” He said: “Does he recite in them?” He said: “Yes.” He said: “Does he separate them with salām?” He said: “No.”
