حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ أَفْلَحَ مَوْلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَزَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي السُّفْلِ وَأَبُو أَيُّوبَ فِي الْعُلُوِّ فَانْتَبَهَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ لَيْلَةً فَقَالَ أَنَمْشِي فَوْقَ رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَزَلَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «السُّفْلُ أَرْفَقُ بِنَا» قَالَ وَكَانَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ إِذَا بَعَثَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِطَعَامٍ سَأَلَ عَنْ مَوَاضِعِ أَثَرِ أَصَابِعِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ بِطَعَامٍ فِيهِ ثُومٌ فَلَمْ يَرَ فِيهِ أَثَرَ مَوْضِعِ أَصَابِعِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ؟ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنِّي أَكْرَهُهُ» فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَكْرَهُ مَا كَرِهْتَ أَوْ مَا تَكْرَهُ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُؤْتَى

✧ The Prophet ﷺ stayed with him, and the Prophet ﷺ settled on the lower floor while Abū Ayyūb was on the upper floor. Abū Ayyūb woke up one night and said: “Shall we walk above the head of the Messenger of God ﷺ?” So he went down to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “The lower floor is more comfortable for us.” He said: When Abū Ayyūb sent food to the Messenger of God ﷺ, he would ask about the places where the Prophet’s fingers had left traces. Abū Ayyūb sent him food containing garlic, and he did not see in it the trace of the place of the Prophet’s fingers. He said to the Prophet ﷺ: “Is it forbidden?” He said: “No, but I dislike it.” He said: “I dislike what you dislike, or what you dislike.” And the Prophet ﷺ used to be brought [food].
