حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ أَنَسُ بْنُ سَلْمٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْأَصْبَغِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَعُودُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أُبَيٍّ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَعَرَفَ فِيهِ الْمَوْتَ فَقَالَ «كُنْتُ أَنْهَاكَ عَنْ حُبِّ الْيَهُودِ» قَالَ أَسْعَدُ بْنُ زُرَارَةَ مَاتَ فَمُهُ؟ فَلَمَّا مَاتَ أَتَاهُ ابْنُهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ مَاتَ فَأَعْطِنِي قَمِيصَكَ أُكَفِّنْهُ فِيهِ فَنَزَعَ قَمِيصَهُ فَأَلْبَسَهُ إِيَّاهُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to visit 'Abdullah b. Ubayy during the illness in which he died, and I was with him. He recognized death in him and said: 'I used to forbid you from loving the Jews.' He said: 'As'ad b. Zurarah died, so what?' When he died, his son 'Abdullah came to him and said: 'Abdullah has died, so give me your shirt to shroud him in it.' He removed his shirt and clothed him with it.
