حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الدِّمْيَاطِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ
«كَانَ خَبَّابُ بْنُ الْأَرَتِّ مَوْلَى بَنِي زُهْرَةَ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا يُكْنَى أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ تُوُفِّيَ سَنَةَ سَبْعٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ مُنْصَرَفَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ مِنْ صِفِّينَ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ وَهُوَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ قُبِرَ بِالْكُوفَةِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَكَانَ إِسْلَامُ خَبَّابٍ بِمَكَّةَ»

✧ "Khabbab b. al-Aratt was a freed slave of Banu Zuhrah. He witnessed Badr and was given the kunya Abu Abdullah. He died in the year thirty-seven, when Ali ؓ returned from Siffin to Kufa, and he was the first of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ to be buried in Kufa. Khabbab's Islam was in Makkah."
