حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ الْقَطَوَانِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ
رَأَيْتُ حُجْرَ بْنَ عَدِيٍّ حِينَ أَخَذَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «هَذِهِ بَيْعَتِي لَا أَقِيلُهَا وَلَا أَسْتَقِيلُهَا سَمَاعَ اللهِ وَالنَّاسِ»
