حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ أَنْبَأَ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ نُفَيْلِ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ خَرَجَ وَرَقَةُ بْنُ نَوْفَلٍ وَزَيْدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو يَطْلُبَانِ الدِّينَ حَتَّى مَرَّا بِالشَّامِ فَأَمَّا وَرَقَةُ فَتَنَصَّرَ وَأَمَّا زَيْدٌ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ الَّذِي تَطْلُبُ أَمَامَكَ فَانْطَلَقَ حَتَّى أَتَى الْمَوْصِلَ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِرَاهِبٍ فَقَالَ مِنْ أَيْنَ أَقْبَلَ صَاحِبُ الْمَرْحَلَةِ؟ قَالَ مِنْ بَيْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ مَا تَطْلُبُ؟ قَالَ الدِّينَ فَعَرَضَ عَلَيْهِ النَّصْرَانِيَّةَ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَقْبَلَ وَقَالَ لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِيهِ قَالَ

أَمَا إِنَّ الَّذِي تَطْلُبُ سَيَظْهَرُ بِأَرْضِكَ فَأَقْبَلَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لَبَّيْكَ حَقًّا حَقًّا تَعَبُّدًا وَرِقًّا الْبِرَّ أَبْغِي لَا الْحَالَ وَهَلْ مُهَاجِرٌ كَمَنْ قَالَ عُذْتُ بِمَا عَاذَ بِهِ إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ وَأَنْفِي لَكَ اللهُمَّ عَانٍ رَاغِمٍ مَهْمَا تَجَشَّمَنِي فَإِنِّي جَاشِمٌ ثُمَّ يَخِرُّ فَيَسْجُدُ لِلْكَعْبَةِ قَالَ فَمَرَّ زَيْدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَزَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ وَهُمَا يَأْكُلَانِ مِنْ سُفْرَةٍ لَهُمَا فَدَعَيَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي لَا آكُلُ مِمَّا ذُبِحَ عَلَى النُّصُبِ قَالَ فَمَا رُؤِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا ذُبِحَ عَلَى النُّصُبِ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى بُعِثَ قَالَ وَجَاءَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ زَيْدًا كَانَ كَمَا رَأَيْتَ أَوْ كَمَا بَلَغَكَ فَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُ قَالَ «نَعَمْ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ فَإِنَّهُ يُبْعَثُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أُمَّةً وَحْدَهُ»

✧ Indeed, the one you seek will appear in your land. He turned back saying: "At Your service, truly, truly, in worship and servitude. I seek piety, not the transient. Is an emigrant like one who said: I seek refuge in what Ibrahim sought refuge, while he was standing? I disown for You, O God, a submissive, compelled one. Whatever You burden me with, I will bear." Then he fell down and prostrated to the Kaaba. He said: Zayd b. Amr passed by the Prophet ﷺ and Zayd b. Haritha while they were eating from a traveling provision of theirs. They invited him, so he said, "O son of my brother, I do not eat from what is slaughtered on the stone altars." He said: The Prophet ﷺ was not seen eating from what is slaughtered on the stone altars from that day until he was sent as a prophet. He said: Sa'id b. Zayd came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of God, Zayd was as you saw, or as you have heard. Pray for forgiveness for him." He said, "Yes," so he prayed for forgiveness for him, "for he will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection as a nation alone."
