حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى الدِّمَشْقِيُّ وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالَا ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الْغَفَّارِ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُرَشِيُّ ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْغَامِدِيُّ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي مَا هَذِهِ الْجَمَاعَةُ؟ قَالَ
هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمُ قَدِ اجْتَمَعُوا عَلَى صَابِئٍ لَهُمْ قَالَ فَنَزَلْنَا فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُو النَّاسَ إِلَى تَوْحِيدِ اللهِ ﷻ وَالْإِيمَانِ بِهِ وَهُمْ يَرُدُّونَ عَلَيْهِ وَيُؤْذُونَهُ حَتَّى انْتَصَفَ النَّهَارُ وَانْصَدَعَ عَنْهُ النَّاسُ وَأَقْبَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ قَدْ بَدَا نَحْرُهَا تَحْمِلُ قَدَحًا وَمِنْدِيلًا فَتَنَاوَلَهُ مِنْهَا وَشَرِبَ وَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَقَالَ «يَا بُنَيَّةُ خَمِّرِي عَلَيْكِ نَحْرَكِ وَلَا تَخَافِي عَلَى أَبِيكِ» قُلْنَا مَنْ هَذِهِ؟ قَالُوا زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُهُ

✧ These people have gathered around one of their apostates. He said: So we dismounted, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ calling the people to the oneness of Allah, exalted is He, and to faith in Him, while they were rejecting him and harming him. When the day had reached its midpoint and the people had dispersed from him, a woman came forward, her throat exposed, carrying a cup and a towel. He took it from her, drank, and performed ablution. Then he raised his head and said, “O my little daughter, cover your throat, and do not fear for your father.” We said, “Who is this?” They said, “His daughter Zaynab.”
