حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْجُمَحِيُّ ثنا جَمِيلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الطَّائِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْمُعَلَّى قَالَ قَالَ

الْحَكَمُ الْغِفَارِيُّ يَا طَاعُونُ خُذْنِي إِلَيْكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ بِمَ تَقُولُ هَذَا وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «أَلَا لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ» ؟ قَالَ قَدْ سَمِعْتُ مَا سَمِعْتُمْ وَلَكِنِّي أُبادِرُ سِتًّا بَيْعَ الْحُكْمِ وَكَثْرَةَ الشَّرْطِ وَإِمَارَةَ الصِّبْيَانِ وَسَفْكَ الدِّمَاءِ وَقَطِيعَةَ الرَّحِمِ وَنَشْئًا يَكُونُ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ يَتَّخِذُونَ الْقُرْآنَ مَزَامِيرَ

Translation

✧ Al-Hakam al-Ghifari said, 'O plague, take me to You.' A man from the people said to him, 'Why do you say this when I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Let none of you wish for death"?' He said, 'I heard what you heard, but I am hastening toward six things: the selling of judgment, the abundance of stipulations, the rule of boys, the shedding of blood, the severing of kinship, and a generation at the end of time who take the Quran as flutes.'
