حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا حُمَيْدٌ وَيُونُسُ وَحَبِيبٌ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ أَنَّ زِيَادًا اسْتَعْمَلَ الْحَكَمَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْغِفَارِيَّ عَلَى جَيْشٍ فَلَقِيَهُ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ فِي دَارِ الْإِمَارَةِ بَيْنَ الْبَابَيْنِ فَقَالَ

هَلْ تَدْرِي فِيمَا جِئْتُكَ؟ أَمَا تَذْكُرُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا بَلَغَهُ الَّذِي قَالَ لَهُ أَمِيرُهُ قُمْ فَقَعْ فِي النَّارِ فَقَامَ الرَّجُلُ لِيَقَعَ فِيهَا فَأُدْرِكَ فَأُمْسِكَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَوْ وَقَعَ فِيهَا لَدَخَلَ النَّارَ لَا طَاعَةَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ» ؟ قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّمَا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُذَكِّرَكَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ

Translation

✧ “Do you know why I came to you? Do you not remember that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was told what his commander had said to him—‘Stand and fall into the fire’—the man rose to fall into it, but he was caught and restrained, and the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Had he fallen into it, he would have entered the Fire. There is no obedience in disobedience to Allah’?” He said: “Yes.” He said: “I only wanted to remind you of this hadith.”
