حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَابَهْرَامَ الْأَيْذَجِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الشَّجَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الزَّمْعِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ بَدْرٍ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنَ الْحَصْبَاءِ فَاسْتَقْبَلَنَا بِهِ فَرَمَانَا بِهَا وَقَالَ «شَاهَتِ الْوُجُوهُ» فَانْهَزَمْنَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ رَمَى}

✧ On the day of Badr, the Messenger of God ﷺ ordered and took a handful of pebbles, faced us with it, threw it at us, and said: "May the faces be ugly!" So we were defeated, and God ﷻ revealed: {You did not throw when you threw, but God threw}.
