حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَاهَكَ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ الرَّجُلُ يَأْتِينِي فَيُرِيدُ مِنِّي الْبَيْعَ وَلَيْسَ عِنْدِي أَفَأَبْتَاعُهُ لَهُ مِنَ السُّوقِ؟ فَقَالَ «لَا تَبِعْ مَا لَيْسَ عِنْدَكَ»

✧ I said: O Messenger of God, a man comes to me and wants to buy from me, and I do not have it. Should I buy it for him from the market? He said: "Do not sell what you do not have."
