حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ أُمُورًا كُنْتُ أَتَحَنَّثُ فِيهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مِنْ عَتَاقَةٍ وَصِلَةِ رَحِمٍ هَلْ لِي فِيهَا مِنْ أَجْرٍ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَسْلَمْتَ عَلَى مَا سَلَفَ لَكَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ»

✧ I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, do you think that the matters in which I used to devote myself in the Jahiliyyah—of manumission and maintaining family ties—is there any reward for me in them?' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'You have embraced Islam upon the good that has preceded for you.'
