حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْجَارُودِ عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ أَسِيدٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «عُرِضَتْ عَلَيَّ أُمَّتِي الْبَارِحَةَ لَدَى هَذِهِ الْحُجْرَةِ أَوَّلُهَا إِلَى آخِرِهَا» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا عُرِضَ عَلَيْكَ مَنْ خُلِقَ فَكَيْفَ عُرِضَ عَلَيْكَ مَنْ لَمْ يُخْلَقْ؟ فَقَالَ «صُوِّرُوا لِي فِي الطِّينِ حَتَّى لَأَنَا أَعْرَفُ بِالْإِنْسَانِ مِنْهُمْ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ بِصَاحِبِهِ»

Translation

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "My community was presented to me last night by this chamber, from its first to its last." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, those who were created were presented to you; how were those not yet created presented to you?" He said: "They were formed for me in clay, until I am more familiar with a person among them than one of you is with his companion."
