حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ أَنَّ صِلَةَ بْنَ زُفَرَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنَ الْيَمَانِ كُفِّنَ فِي ثَوْبَيْنِ قَالَ

بَعَثَنِي وَأَبَا مَسْعُودٍ فَابْتَعْنَا لَهُ كَفَنًا حُلَّةَ عَصْبٍ بِثَلَاثِ مِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ فَقَالَ «أَرِيَانِي مَا ابْتَعْتُما لِي» فَأَرَيْنَاهُ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذَا لِي بِكَفَنٍ إِنَّمَا يَكْفِينِي رَيْطَتَانِ بَيْضَاوَانِ لَيْسَ مَعَهُمَا قَمِيصٌ وَإِنِّي لَا أَتْرُكُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا حَتَّى أَنَالَ خَيْرًا مِنْهُمَا أَوْ شَرًّا مِنْهُمَا» فابْتَعْنَا لَهُ رَيْطَتَيْنِ بَيْضَاوَيْنِ

✧ He sent me and Abu Mas'ud, and we bought for him a shroud, a striped Yemeni garment, for three hundred dirhams. He said, "Show me what you bought for me." So we showed it to him, and he said, "This is not a shroud for me. Two white linen garments without a shirt will suffice me. I will not remain except a little while until I attain something better than them or worse than them." So we bought for him two white linen garments.
