حَدَّثَنَا الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ ثنا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ الْأَفْطَسِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا أُصِيبَ حَمْزَةُ وَأَصْحَابُهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ قَالُوا لَيْتَ أَنَّ مَنْ خَلْفَنَا عَلِمُوا مَا أَعْطَانَا اللهُ مِنَ الثَّوَابِ لِيَكُونَ أَجْرًا لَهُمْ فَقَالَ اللهُ ﷻ أَنَا أُعْلِمُهُمْ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى {وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ أَمْوَاتًا} الْآيَةَ

✧ When Hamzah and his companions were struck down on the day of Uhud, they said, "Would that those behind us knew what reward Allah has given us, so that it would be a reward for them." Allah, exalted is He, said, "I will inform them." So Allah, blessed and exalted is He, revealed: {And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead} – the verse.
