حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ

لَمَّا قُتِلَ حَمْزَةُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ أَقْبَلَتْ صَفِيَّةُ تَطْلُبُهُ لَا تَدْرِي مَا صَنَعَ فَلَقِيَتْ عَلِيًّا وَالزُّبَيْرَ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ لِلزُّبَيْرِ اذْكُرْ لِأُمِّكَ وَقَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ لِعَلِيٍّ اذْكُرْ أَنْتَ لِعَمَّتِكَ فَقَالَتَ مَا فَعَلَ حَمْزَةُ؟ فَأَرَيَاهَا أَنَّهُمَا لَا يَدْرِيَانِ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَى عَقْلِهَا» فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى صَدْرِهَا وَدَعَا لَهَا فَاسْتَرْجَعَتْ وَبَكَتْ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَقَامَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ مُثِّلَ بِهِ فَقَالَ «لَوْلَا جَزَعُ النِّسَاءِ لَتَرَكْتُهُ حَتَّى يُحْشَرَ مِنْ حَوَاصِلِ الطَّيْرِ وَبُطُونِ السِّبَاعِ» ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِالْقَتْلَى فَجَعَلَ يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِمْ فَيَضَعُ تِسْعَةً وَحَمْزَةَ فَيُكَبِّرُ عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ تَكْبِيرَاتٍ ثُمَّ يُرْفَعُونَ وَيُتْرَكُ حَمْزَةُ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِتِسْعَةٍ فَكَبَّرَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ تَكْبِيرَاتٍ حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنْهُمْ

✧ When Hamzah was killed on the day of Uhud, Safiyyah came looking for him, not knowing what had happened to him. She met Ali and al-Zubayr. Ali said to al-Zubayr, "Mention it to your mother," and al-Zubayr said to Ali, "You mention it to your paternal aunt." She said, "What has happened to Hamzah?" They indicated to her that they did not know. Then the Prophet ﷺ came and said, "I fear for her mind." He placed his hand on her chest and supplicated for her. She sought Allah's reward and wept. Then he came and stood over him, and he had been mutilated. He said, "Were it not for the grief of women, I would have left him until he is gathered from the crops of birds and bellies of beasts." Then he ordered the slain, and he began praying over them. He would place nine and Hamzah, and pronounce seven takbirs over them. Then they would be lifted and Hamzah left. Then he would bring nine and pronounce seven takbirs over them, until he finished with them.
