حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ لَمَّا أُحِيطَ بِالْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ؓ قَالَ

مَا اسْمُ هَذَا الْمَوْضِعِ؟ قَالُوا كَرْبَلَاءُ قَالَ «صَدَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هِيَ كَرْبٌ وَبَلَاءٌ»

✧ What is the name of this place? They said: Karbala'. He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke the truth: it is distress (karb) and affliction (bala').'
