حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ الْمَهْدِيَّ سَأَلَ جَعْفَرًا كَمْ كَانَ لِعَلِيٍّ حِينَ قُتِلَ؟ قَالَ «ثَمَانٍ وَخَمْسُونَ وَلَهَا قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ»
Translation

✧ I heard al-Mahdi ask Ja'far, "How old was Ali when he was killed?" He said, "Fifty-eight, and at that same age al-Husayn b. Ali was killed."
