✧ I said to al-Hasan b. Ali ؓ: "What were you like on the day the Prophet ﷺ died, and what do you retain from him?" He said: "I retained from him that a man came to him one day and asked him about something, and he said: 'Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt, for evil is doubt and good is tranquility.' And I retained from him that I passed by him one day while there was in front of him a trough of charity dates, and I took a date and threw it into my mouth. He grabbed me by the back of my neck, then inserted his hand into my mouth and pulled it out with its saliva, then threw it back into the trough. His companions said to him: 'If only you had left the boy to eat it.' He said: 'Charity is not lawful for the family of Muhammad.'" He said: "And he taught me words that I supplicate with at the end of the qunut: 'O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, and take me as an ally among those You have taken as allies, and grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being, and bless me in what You have given, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed; for You decree and none decrees over You, and he whom You befriend is not humiliated. Blessed and exalted are You.'"
