✧ We were around the Prophet ﷺ when Umm Ayman came and said, “O Messenger of Allah, al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn have gone astray.” He said, “That was at the rising of the day,” meaning the height of the day. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Arise and seek my two sons.” He said, “Each man took the direction he faced, and I took the direction of the Prophet ﷺ. He did not stop until he came to the foot of a mountain, and there were al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn ؓ, each one clinging to his companion, and a serpent standing on its tail, from its mouth coming something like fire. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ hastened to it, and it turned addressing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then slithered and entered among some rocks. Then he came to the two of them, separated them, wiped their faces, and said, ‘May my father and mother be your ransom, how honored you are before Allah.’ Then he carried one of them on his right shoulder and the other on his left shoulder. I said, ‘Blessed are you two, what an excellent mount is your mount.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘And what excellent riders are they, and their father is better than them.’”
