حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ كُلْثُومِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ قَالَ
إِنِّي لَجَالِسٌ عِنْدَ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ إِذْ ذَكَرُوا عَلِيًّا ؓ فَشَتَمُوهُ فَلَمَّا قَامُوا قَالَ اجْلِسْ حَتَّى أُخْبِرَكَ عَنْ هَذَا الَّذِي شَتَمُوا إِنِّي عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ إِذْ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ وَفَاطِمَةُ وَالْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ ؓ فَأَلْقَى عَلَيْهِمْ كِسَاءً لَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي اللهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَأَنَا؟ قَالَ «وَأَنْتَ» قَالَ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّهَا لَأَوْثَقُ عَمَلٍ فِي نَفْسِي
Translation

✧ Regarding what they insulted me about, I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a certain day when Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn came. He threw his cloak over them and said, "O Allah, these are the people of my household. O Allah, remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly." So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what about me?" He said, "And you." He said, "By Allah, it is indeed the most steadfast action in myself."
