✧ The lineage of Zubayr b. al-Awwam "Zubayr b. al-Awwam b. Khawilid b. Asad b. Abd al-Uzza b. Qusayy b. Kilab b. Murrah b. Ka'b b. Lu'ayy b. Ghalib b. Fihr b. Malik, known as Abu Abdullah, and his mother: Safiyyah bt. Abd al-Muttalib, the aunt of the Messenger.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ قَالَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ الْأَسَدِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَشَرِيكٌ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ فَأُتِيَ بِرَأْسِ الزُّبَيْرِ ؓ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ بَشِّرْ قَاتِلَ ابْنِ صَفِيَّةَ بِالنَّارِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ حَوَارِيًّا وَحَوَارِيَّ الزُّبَيْرُ»

✧ I was sitting with Ali ؓ when the head of Zubayr ؓ was brought. Ali ؓ said, "Give news of Hellfire to the killer of the son of Safiyyah. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Every prophet has a disciple, and my disciple is Zubayr.'"
