✧ The lineage of Zubayr b. al-Awwam "Zubayr b. al-Awwam b. Khawilid b. Asad b. Abd al-Uzza b. Qusayy b. Kilab b. Murrah b. Ka'b b. Lu'ayy b. Ghalib b. Fihr b. Malik, known as Abu Abdullah, and his mother: Safiyyah bt. Abd al-Muttalib, the aunt of the Messenger.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ هَارُونَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ قَالَ

«يَا بَنِيَّ لَا تَخْرُجُنَّ بَنَاتِكُمْ إِلَّا إِلَى الْأَكْفَاءِ» قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا وَمَنِ الْأَكْفَاءُ؟ قَالَ «وَلَدُ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ»

✧ "O my sons, do not marry your daughters except to suitable matches." They said, "O our father, who are the suitable matches?" He said, "The descendants of Zubayr b. al-Awwam."
