✧ The lineage of Zubayr b. al-Awwam "Zubayr b. al-Awwam b. Khawilid b. Asad b. Abd al-Uzza b. Qusayy b. Kilab b. Murrah b. Ka'b b. Lu'ayy b. Ghalib b. Fihr b. Malik, known as Abu Abdullah, and his mother: Safiyyah bt. Abd al-Muttalib, the aunt of the Messenger.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ هَارُونَ الْقَزَّازُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ مُطِيعَ بْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ يَقُولُ «وَاللهِ §لَوْ عَهِدْتُ عَهْدًا أَوْ تَرَكْتُ تَرِكَةً لَكَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مَنْ

أَنْ أجْعَلَهَا إِلَيْهِ الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ فَإِنَّهُ رُكْنٌ مِنْ أَرْكَانِ الدِّينِ»
