حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدُوسِ بْنِ كَامِلٍ السِّرَاجُ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ
بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً إِلَى خَثْعَمٍ فَاعْتَصَمَ نَاسٌ مِنْهُمْ بِالسُّجُودِ فَأَسْرَعَ إِلَيْهِمُ الْقَتْلَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ لَهُمْ بِنِصْفِ الْعَقْلِ وَقَالَ «إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِنْ كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ يُقِيمُ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَانَيِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَلِمَ قَالَ «لَا تَرَاءَى نارَهُمَا»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ dispatched a military expedition to Khathʿam. Some of them sought protection by prostrating, but killing was hastened upon them. That reached the Prophet ﷺ, so he ordered half of the blood money for them and said, “I am free from every Muslim who resides among the polytheists.” They said, “O Messenger of God, why?” He said, “Their fires should not be visible to each other.”
