حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا جَرِيرٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أُمِّ طَارِقٍ مَوْلَاةِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ قَالَتْ

أَتَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ فَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ وَسَكَتَ قَالَتْ فَنَدِمَ سَعْدٌ فَقَالَ لِي ائْتِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبِرِيهِ أَنَّا سَكَتْنَا عَنْهُ رَجَاءَ أَنْ يَزِيدَنَا قَالَتْ فَجَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْبَابِ أَسْمَعُ صَوْتَهُ وَلَا أَرَاهُ قَالَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا أَنْتِ؟» قَالَتْ أَنَا أُمُّ مِلْدَمٍ قَالَ «أَنْتِ فَلَا مَرْحَبًا بِكِ وَلَا أَهْلًا»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ came to Saʿd b. ʿUbāda, greeted him, but he did not respond and remained silent. She said: Saʿd regretted it and said to me: Go to the Messenger of God ﷺ and tell him that we remained silent hoping that he would give us more. She said: Then he came and greeted at the door; I heard his voice but did not see him. She said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'What are you?' She said: 'I am Umm Mildam.' He said: 'You? Then no welcome to you and no greetings.'
