حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا عَوْنُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ قُرَيْعٍ أَحَدُ بَنِي غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَاوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جُنَادَةَ بْنِ جَرَادَةَ أَحَدِ بَنِي غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَاوَةَ قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِإِبِلٍ قَدْ وَسَمْتُها فِي أَنْفِها فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يَا جُنَادَةُ مَا وَجَدْتُ فِيهَا عُضْوًا تَسِمُهُ إِلَّا فِي الْوَجْهِ أَمَا إِنَّ أَمَامَكَ الْقِصَاصُ» فَقَالَ أُمِرُّهَا إِلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ «ائْتِنِي بِشَيْءٍ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ وَسْمٌ» فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِابْنِ لَبُونٍ وَحِقَّةٍ فَوَضَعْتُ الْمِيسَمَ فِي الْعُنُقِ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَقُولُ «أَخِّرْ أَخِّرْ» حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْفَخِذَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «سِمْ عَلَى بَرَكَةِ اللهِ» فَوَسَمْتُها فِي أَفْخَاذِها وَكَانَتْ صَدَقَتُهَا حِقَّتَانِ وَكَانَتْ تِسْعِينَ

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with camels that I had branded on their noses. The Prophet ﷺ said, “O Junadah, did you find no limb to brand except on the face? Indeed, ahead of you is retribution.” He said, “I leave the matter to you, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Bring me something that has no brand on it.” So I brought him a two-year-old male camel and a three-year-old female camel. I placed the branding iron on the neck, but he kept saying, “Move it back, move it back,” until it reached the thigh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Brand with the blessing of Allah.” So I branded them on their thighs. Their zakah was two three-year-old females, and they were ninety.
