حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ شَيْبَةَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ صِرْمَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ قَالَتْ مَا

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُرَخِّصُ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا أَعُدُّهُ كَذِبًا «الرَّجُلُ يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَالرَّجُلُ يَقُولُ فِي الْحَرْبِ وَالرَّجُلُ يُحَدِّثُ امْرَأَتَهُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ تُحَدِّثُ زَوْجَهَا»

✧ I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ permit lying except in three cases. The Messenger of God ﷺ would say, “I do not count it as lying: a man who reconciles between people, a man who speaks in war, and a man who talks to his wife and a woman who talks to her husband.”
