حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ أَنَّ ابْنَ الْهَادِ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ قَالَتْ

مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُرَخِّصُ فِي الْكَذِبِ فِي شَيْءٍ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَعُدُّهُ كَذِبًا «الرَّجُلُ يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ يَزِيدُ فِي الْقَوْلِ يُرِيدُ بِهِ الْإِصْلَاحَ وَالرَّجُلُ يَقُولُ فِي الْحَرْبِ وَالرَّجُلُ يُحَدِّثُ امْرَأَتَهُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ تُحَدِّثُ زَوْجَهَا»

✧ I never saw the Messenger of God ﷺ permit lying in anything except in three cases. The Messenger of God ﷺ would not count it as lying: a man who reconciles between people, adding to the speech while intending reconciliation; a man who speaks in war; and a man who talks to his wife, and a woman who talks to her husband.”
