حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ كَرَامَةَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ سَالِمٍ الْحَنَّاطِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ

أَنَّ ابْنَةً لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ تُوُفِّيَتْ فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا وِتْرًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ مَا رَأَيْتُنَّ وَاجْعَلْنَهُ وِتْرًا فَغَسَّلْنَاهَا فَدَخَلَ فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حَقْوَهُ فَقَالَ أَشْعِرْنَهَا تَحْتَ كَفَنِهَا وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي آخِرِهِ كَافُورًا

✧ A daughter of the Prophet ﷺ died. The Prophet ﷺ entered and said: "Wash her an odd number of times, three or five, or as you see fit, and make it odd." So we washed her. Then he entered and threw his waist-wrapper to us and said: "Wrap her with it beneath her shroud, and put camphor in the last [wash]."
