حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا هُشَيْمٌ أنا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ زَاذَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُخْرِجُ الْأَبْكَارَ وَالْعَوَاتِقَ وَذَوَاتَ الْخُدُورِ وَالْحُيَّضَ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ فَأَمَّا الْحُيَّضُ فَيَعْتَزِلْنَ الْمُصَلَّى وَيَشْهَدْنَ الْخَيْرَ وَدَعْوَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَقَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِإِحْدَاهُنَّ جِلْبَابٌ؟ قَالَ فَلْتُعِرْهَا أُخْتُهَا مِنْ جَلَابِيبِهَا

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to bring out the virgins, adolescent girls, those in seclusion, and menstruating women on the two Eids. As for the menstruating women, they would keep away from the prayer area but witness the good and the supplication of the Muslims. One of them said, “If one of them does not have a jilbab?” He said, “Let her sister lend her one of her jilbabs.”
