حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ ثنا هُشَيْمٌ أنا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ زَاذَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ وَهِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانٍ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ وَخَالِدِ بْنِ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ

تُوُفِّيَتْ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نُغَسِّلَهَا بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ وَقَالَ اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي آخِرِهِنَّ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَائْذَنَّنِي فَلَمَّا آذَنَّاهُ فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حَقْوَهُ فَقَالَ أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ

✧ One of the daughters of the Prophet ﷺ died, and he ordered us to wash her with water and sidr. He said, “Wash her three times, or five times, or more than that if you see fit, and put camphor or some camphor in the last of them. When you have finished, inform me.” When we informed him, he threw his waist-wrapper to us and said, “Use it as her innermost shroud.”
