حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الشَّعْثَاءِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ وَأَشْعَثَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ
تُوُفِّيَتْ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اغْسِلْنَهَا بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ وَاغْسِلْنَهَا وِتْرًا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا وَإِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ أَنْ تَزِدْنَ فَزِدْنَ وَلْيَكُنْ ذَلِكَ وِتْرًا وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي آخِرِهِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ ثُمَّ أَلْقَى لَنَا حَقْوَهُ فَقَالَ أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ

✧ One of the daughters of the Prophet ﷺ died. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Wash her with water and sidr, and wash her an odd number of times: three or five, and if you see fit to add more, then add more, and let that be an odd number. Put camphor or some camphor in the last washing.” Then he threw his waist-wrapper to us and said, “Use it as her innermost shroud.”
