حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ فُرَيْعَةَ أُخْتِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَتْ
انْطَلَقَ زَوْجِي يَطْلُبُ أَعْلَاجًا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِطَرَفِ الْقُدُومِ لَحِقُوهُ فَقَتَلُوهُ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ زَوْجِي قُتِلَ بِطَرَفِ الْقُدُومِ وَإِنَّ زَوْجِي لَمْ يَدَعْ لِي مَسْكَنًا وَلَا مَالًا وَإِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَنْتَقِلَ إِلَى إِخْوَتِي فَيَكُونَ أَجْمَعَ لِأَمْرِنا قَالَتْ فَأَذِنَ لِي فَخَرَجْتُ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنْتُ بِبَعْضِ الْحُجْرَةِ دَعَانِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «امْكُثِي فِي الْبَيْتِ الَّذِي أَتَاكِ فِيهِ نَعْيُ زَوْجِكِ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ»

✧ My husband set out seeking runaway slaves until when he was at the edge of al-Qudūm, they caught up with him and killed him. I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: My husband was killed at the edge of al-Qudūm, and my husband left me neither a dwelling nor wealth, and I want to move to my brothers so that it would be better for our affairs. She said: He gave me permission. I went out, and when I was in part of the room, the Prophet ﷺ called me and said: “Stay in the house in which the news of your husband’s death came to you until the prescribed period reaches its term.”
