حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ أَوْ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ شَكَّ شُعْبَةُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَمَّتَهُ زَيْنَبَ تُحَدِّثُ عَنْ فُرَيْعَةَ
أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ مَعَ زَوْجِهَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ قُرَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَأَنَّهُ اتَّبَعَ أَعْلَاجًا فَقَتَلُوهُ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ الْوَحْشَةَ وَذَكَرْتُ أَنَّهَا فِي مَنْزِلٍ لَيْسَ لَهَا وأنَّهَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْ أَنْ تَأْتِي إِخْوَتَهُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَأَذِنَ لَهَا ثُمَّ دَعَاهَا فَقَالَ «امْكُثِي فِي بَيْتِكِ الَّذِي جَاءَكِ فِيهِ نَعْيُهُ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ»

✧ that she was with her husband in one of the villages of Madinah, and he pursued runaway slaves and they killed him. I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and mentioned to him the loneliness and that she was in a house that was not hers, and that she asked permission to go to his brothers in Madinah. He gave her permission, then called her and said: “Stay in your house in which the news of his death came to you until the prescribed period reaches its term.”
